About the Author
João F. Silva was born in a small town in Portugal but now lives in London, with his three feline co-workers/bosses. He writes Epic Fantasy, Science Fiction and Horror and has been on the jury for the 2020 and 2022 editions of the Best Newcomer Award at the British Fantasy Awards. His short fiction was published in Grimdark Magazine and Haven Speculative. His novel Seeds of War is the first instalment in the upcoming Smokesmiths series.
His brand of science fiction and fantasy is influenced by Joe Abercrombie, Robin Hobb, Brandon Sanderson, Kameron Hurley, Peter McLean, John Gwynne, Evan Winter and Mark Lawrence. When he’s not writing, he can be found playing video games, reading or cooking Portuguese food. He’s a member of the BSFA and was also on the jury for “Best Newcomer” at the 2020 and 2022 British Fantasy Awards.

Very nice timing. I’m finally starting this one later today! It’s been on my SPFBO-9 list since the start. It’s been right on the edge each month and kept getting bumped. I have 3% in the current visual read then onto this one!
